Lack of jobs and a steady decline in population, has resulted in poverty, visible blight, and an estimated 22,000 vacant housing units in the City of Buffalo. Thousands are severely neglected and a danger to the community, placing many neighborhoods at risk

Abandoned properties attract arson, crime and drugs destroying the social fabric of affected neighborhoods. Unsound, unsafe, and at risk of collapse, these properties are a danger to neighbors, a burden on city services and a drain on all taxpayers in the region. Residents look out on blighted properties covered in graffiti, trash and broken glass. These conditions discourage home ownership and improvements.

Within the hardest hit neighborhoods, unemployment is high and incomes are low. Property values are severely depressed. A combination that makes renovations of any kind economically unfeasible.

...a scenario where blight begets more blight...Ever increasing numbers of vacant and abandoned properties... a cancer spreading urban decay... a threat to the safety and stability of city neighborhoods.

The city and the people residing on these streets need help.
As members of the community we feel it is important to volunteer - to contribute our time and resources to the needs of the community. After driving streets of our city, we decided to help provide the solution to a very real, very visible problem within city neighborhoods.
